Boston-based violinist/violist Kate Goldstein is an avid chamber and orchestral musician, recitalist, and passionate teacher. Some of her many performances across North America and Europe have been on the renowned stages of Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall, and Glinka Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia. Kate’s recent highlights include a debut chamber performance at Weill Recital Hall in NYC raising funds for the New York Women’s Foundation and as a guest artist of The Castleman Quartet Program at SUNY Fredonia’s Rosch Recital Hall. An active freelancer in the Boston area, she regularly performs with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, and Cape Ann Symphony. Other orchestral engagements have been under the baton of notable conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Keith Lockhart, JoAnn Falletta, and Jeffery Meyer, to name a few. Past festival appearances include LyricaFest Boston Inc., Brevard Music Center, Garth Newel Music Center, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival, and the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music Spoleto Festival in Italy.

Kate has been coached extensively by eminent violinists Rachel Barton Pine, Elmar Oliveira, Vilde Frang, Levon Chilingirian, Grammy nominated cellist Terry King, cellist Mihail Jojatu of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as members from the Ying and Avalon String Quartets. Kate has held faculty positions at the Yamaha Music School of Boston (Lexington, MA), the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (Framingham, MA), and the ArtsAhimsa Music Festival at Belvoir Terrace (Lenox, MA). She also currently maintains a private teaching studio in the Boston area. Outside the classical music realm, Kate loves to perform, record, and jam with prominent folk musicians Josh Ritter, Mark Erelli, Zachariah Hickman, Dietrich Strause, Dinty Child, and Annie Bartlett of The Sheffield Sessions in Winchester, MA. She has been featured on four albums and can be found playing at historic venues such as Club Passim (Cambridge, MA), OBERON (a venue of American Repertory Theatre, Cambridge, MA), and the Shubert Theatre (Boston, MA). She also performed with Josh Groban in his Awake Tour at the Times Union Center (Albany, NY). Kate had the privilege of studying with esteemed pedagogues and performers Laura Bossert and Susan Waterbury. She earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from Ithaca College, a Master of Music Degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and pursued additional studies at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. When not performing or teaching, Kate enjoys her free time tap dancing and playing with her beloved black pug Rupert.
