A winter carnival of chamber music devoted to romance

A winter carnival of chamber music devoted to romance

The players are intensely charismatic and the talents immense. It is not really a carnival, of course, but more a unique pursuit of romantic soul. Brought to life after a week of intensive rehearsal, the concert on Saturday night affirmed the power of music to address a universal soul. Music by Arensky and Glazunov with two cellos, Brahms with two violas and Mendelssohn all offered endless possibilities for intrigue, and the performers took full advantage.

Lyricafest Chamber Music Festival

LyricaFest music festival will celebrate its’ 23rd Anniversary this season as a part of Lyrica Boston Inc., a 501 C 3 non-for profit educational and performance corporation. 35 participants from conservatories and colleges throughout the country and abroad, come together for a two- week intensive workshop in historic Lincoln, MA. The intimacy of the lakefront property and home-stays in the community are just a few of its unique characteristics.  Every ensemble once a week takes a day in the kitchen, to help our LyricaFest chef prepare three home-cooked meals. Faculty is readily available for daily coaching and individual practice help. Music fills the Fest property inside and out and in neighboring host family’s homes, where they too are enjoying sounds of practicing students and ensembles.

Our LyricaFest alumni have gone on to hold positions in many wide ranging institutions and ensembles such as the San Francisco, Portland, Milwaukee, and Knoxville Symphonies, Handel and Haydn Society, BBC Radio Orchestra, Helsinki, Santiago and Royal Philharmonics, the Hausmann & Cecilia String Quartets, (Banff’s 2010 International Quartet First prize winners), A Far Cry, New England Conservatory, Santa Fe Opera, Community Music Works, The Castleman Quartet Program, San Diego State University and the Longy Conservatory of Bard College. They have been awarded top prizes in international and national competitions such as Young Concert Artists, Fischoff, Spohr, the Banff & Miami String Quartet Competitions and the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA).

World-renowned musicians, Roger Tapping, (Juilliard String Quartet), Lawrence Dutton, (Emerson String Quartet), Joseph Kalichstein, (KLR Piano Trio) and soloist, Pamela Frank, have visited LyricaFest and have all wholeheartedly expressed their enthusiasm working and playing with our Fest students. LyricaFest has been spotlighted in Strings and Strad Magazine publications, the New Jersey Star Ledger and the Boston Globe. Our documentary, The Sound of Character, was filmed in 2009 at the original home of LyricaFest in Chatham, NJ. You can view the film on our website, located in the gallery.
