What is a Music Gram?

It is a card that plays a piece or song for 2 minutes arranged and played by the musicians of the Citizen’s Artist Orchestra, CAO and the cover art designed by members of the homeless community. (See below, the opening of a Music Gram, Lady Gaga’s Shallow.)

Our greatest success story to date is Roscoe Jun, the CAO’s Inaugural Visual Artist in Residence, who due to his work designing cover art for the Music Gram Project is no longer homeless.

Believing that we have the potential to help thousands of homeless people struggling with substance abuse, mental wellness and in dire need of a second chance, we initiated the Music Gram Project to collaborate with homeless musicians and artists compensating them directly. Our ultimate goal is to be a conduit out of homelessness by generating jobs through creating, designing, performing and assembling the Music Grams.

Our credo seeks to deliver to those who have little to nothing physically to give, a gift of a personalized Music Gram to send to a loved one, relative or friend. When gifted and or given, we have witnessed first -hand the significant effects on the lives of those in need of being seen and heard.
